Tudor Introduces the Black Bay 36

Tudor Black Bay 36 - 3

In my view, there simply is not too much reason to get the S&G edition of this Tudor X Stuart Black Bay over the normal Black Bay if you are going to receive it on a strap. Then again, the price difference between the two is just 400 Swiss francs. On the matching two-tone necklace, the S&G comes alive and makes an extremely compelling case for itself. You get a modern-sized, timeless-looking, elegant dive watch with some gaudy sex appeal. The Tudor Black Bay Steel, for instance, is the completely manly edition, while the Tudor Heritage Black Bay S&G is appropriate for social scenarios when you would like to look a little striking. Such a style hearkens to ancient metal watch bracelets and provides welcome detailing to the total look.Inside the Tudor Heritage Black Bay S&G 79733N is the in-house-made Tudor grade MT5612. This is the exact same as in the Tudor Black Bay Steel given that it’s a date index wheel. The other Tudor Black Bay watches have a caliber MT5601, which is more or less the same but with no date. Additionally, it has a variable inertia balance wheel with a silicon equilibrium spring.

Conceived a slightly more formal and perhaps more feminine sports watch, the Black Bay 36 (ref. 79500) is also the new entry-level historical remake from Tudor. A modest 36 mm in diameter, the Black Bay 36 is a smallish watch that has the look of the Black Bay, Tudor’s retro style dive watch, but not quite.

While the dial and snowflake hands are familiar, the dial is glossy instead of matte and flat instead of domed. And the bezel is smooth and flat. The result is a watch that is slightly less sporty, and suitable for ladies as well.

The Black Bay 36 (ref. 79500) is stainless steel and equipped with an automatic ETA 2824. It’s available with a steel bracelet or leather strap, starting at SFr2400 including Swiss taxes.
