When we are children, we always dreamed about space. Our eyes would see something down here on Planet Earth but inevitably return to the stars, looking up and wondering if we would ever get there ourselves. Then, in July 1969, we did: the astronauts of Apollo 11 led us to the moon.” So say the brothers and co-founders of Bovarro Watches, Ary and Bob.
Now, the Moon 1969 watch, a Bovarro Swiss-made automatic timepiece, is on Kickstarter to celebrate that achievement. Designed to resemble the hatch and knob on the Apollo 11 spacecraft, bezels and all, this is a watch that is both unique and functional.
The watches will also come in limited-edition series from #0-500 and will have unique serial numbers engraved on the case backs. The watches will come in a 42mm case with 22mm lugs and a 46mm case with 24mm lugs in 316L stainless steel – or 18K solid gold! Watch enthusiasts will have the option of choosing an Italian leather, German-made strap in either black or brown.
The gold watches will also have gold crowns and strap buckles with see-through sapphire crystal case backs. Each watch is 100 meters water-resistant (gold models are 50 meters water-resistant) with double-domed sapphire crystal and sealed screw-in crown.
