Pro-Hunter are to Rolex what AMG are to Mercedes, namely a company that enhances the aesthetic and industrial qualities of what are undoubtedly the world’s best technical watches.

As with all the great Rolex watches, Pro-Hunter began as an idea borne naturally of a specific need, in this case for an outdoor stealth watch, the requirements being for a very hard-wearing case, high legibility and impossible to accidentally detach from the wrist.

In converting modern Rolex watches, Pro-Hunter are serious about respecting the history of Rolex watch company. They have preserved original concepts, staying true to sound designs whose precedence lies in the sword hands, fixed bars, nylon NATO straps, and red printing of classic watches created for the British Royal Navy and others. While staying true to these core designs, the treatments employ the very latest technology, from the high-grade Diamond-Like Carbon coating to the carbon-fibre and metallised bezel inserts. They might have been made by Rolex themselves.

While negotiating the collaboration, we knew that this would allow us to offer our customers something that we really respect, an uncompromising product that reflects the exceptional standards demanded by friends.

What are they?

A range of Rolex sports and technical watches that have been re-built to improve their hard-wearing characteristics. They are coated with Diamond-like Carbon (DLC), also known as amorphous carbon, a type of glassy carbon that has molecular bonds mimicking the crystal structure of diamonds, and hence having incredible hardness and smoothness, but without the diamond’s brittle structure. The coating is highly resistant to scratches and marks, and does not chip off like the lesser “PVD” coating. If, peculiarly, the coating is damaged, the Pro-Hunter guarantee will cover the re-application of DLC.

We’d like to point out that Pro-Hunter watches are new Rolex watches, not second-hand, and so the underlying metal is factory-finish.

The models designated “Military” have fixed bars for attaching a continuous-loop NATO strap, available in three different colours, and which makes losing the watch almost impossible under even the most extreme conditions. Military models benefit from an additional micro-grain light-absorbent finish.

The lettering on some models has the colour changed from white to red, while preserving the crisp high-quality typeface used by Rolex. Each model is made in a strictly limited series, some as low as 100 pieces, each numbered in bold numerals on the back of every watch.
The range currently consists of Rolex Daytona, GMT-Master II, Yacht-Master, Submariner, Sea-Dweller Deepsea, and Milgauss. Look out soon for Pro-Hunter editions of the new Rolex Submariner with Cerachrom ceramic bezel.

Who wears Pro-Hunter?

To date, Pro-Hunter watches have been available only upon recommendation of other owners. This rising circle of exclusivity has seen the watches on the wrists of many of the most well-heeled figures in Europe and beyond.

The original is always the best. There are a lot of black watches out there, mostly of indifferent quality.
